Going Wild

I've not been on the art scene before 2025 - gimme-a-break, I needed to build up my portfolio - but it was the year I unleashed my physical work on the world. Scroll down for my coverage in the press and public art shows.

Whoop whoop!

I’m thrilled to announce I won Second Prize in the Cityscapes Art Challenge featured in the latest issue (No. 167, February/March 2026) of International Artist magazine.

It’s incredibly encouraging to receive this recognition from such a respected and long-standing publication in the art world. The competition was judged by Chief Judge Vincent Miller, the founder of International Artist, an accomplished artist and sculptor himself, who has served as a judge for over 40 years in prestigious competitions across the globe—including the USA, Singapore, Australia, Canada, and the UK.

For winners and finalists, these competitions offer far more than just an award. The real reward lies in the meaningful exposure and respected acknowledgment they provide on both national and international stages. Selected artworks reach thousands of readers worldwide, including influential galleries, collectors, and art enthusiasts—particularly across the United States.

This level of publicity is invaluable, helping to build genuine international visibility and recognition where it truly counts.

If you’re passionate about representational art, love seeing inside the studios of top artists, or want inspiration across oils, watercolors, pastels, acrylics, and more, I highly encourage you to grab a copy of this exciting February/March 2026 issue (No. 167). It features the full showcase of Cityscapes Art Challenge prize winners (including my Second Prize piece!), stunning demonstrations, workshops, and so much more to fuel your own creativity. You can purchase single copies directly from the official shop at internationalartmagazineshop.com (search for Issue 167), or buy the digital version for instant access starting around $8.95. It’s a fantastic way to support the art community and discover incredible work—why not treat yourself or a fellow artist today?

A huge thank you to International Artist magazine for this wonderful achievement in 2026—I’m excited to see what exciting opportunities come next!

Daily Mirror - Community Corner featured artist - 21 April 2023

My painting entitled 'Tear Drop' featured in one of the UK's second highest circulating National newspapers, the Daily Mirror.

Aside from appearing on the Saturday night primetime national TV ad campaign for one of the company's other short-lived publications, 'The New Day', this was my first 15-minutes of fame on a national scale. Happy days.

Public Art Shows

62nd Aurora Juried Art Show & Sale - 2-3 May 2026

At the 62nd Aurora Juried Art Show & Sale, my three featured paintings—Ramona - 1957 Chevy Impala, The Shop That Must Not Be Named, and Everything Begins at Ground Level—offered distinct but connected perspectives on reflection, place and storytelling. Ramona captures the timeless elegance and gleaming character of a classic car, while The Shop That Must Not Be Named draws viewers into a more mysterious, almost cinematic environment. In contrast, Everything Begins at Ground Level shifts the viewpoint entirely, grounding the narrative in an unexpected perspective that invites closer inspection.

Together, these works created a dynamic visual dialogue—balancing nostalgia, intrigue and a fresh way of seeing the everyday. It was rewarding to watch visitors engage with each piece in their own way, whether drawn to the precision of reflective surfaces, the curiosity sparked by hidden details, or the unique angles that challenge how we typically observe the world around us.

Heintzman House Art Show & Sale - 24-26 April 2026

The recent show at Heintzman House was a real highlight, especially seeing so many familiar faces return. There’s something special about reconnecting with people who’ve followed the work over time—the conversations felt easy, genuine and full of shared appreciation.

Just as rewarding was meeting new visitors discovering the artwork for the first time. Their curiosity, fresh perspectives and enthusiasm brought a lovely energy to the space, making the whole experience feel vibrant and welcoming.

And not least, here's to my roomies; Irene, Isabelle & Sylva! A weekend spent in great company.

WheretheheARTis Art Show & Sale - 17-21 Sept 2025

Collaborating with four talented GTA artists, our show explored a wide range of styles, themes and mediums.

Located in the historic town of Unionville, we were fortunate to display in one of the former homes of Canada's most well known landscape painters, The Group of Seven. Audience reception at the McKay Art Centre was phenomenal and it was truly an unforgettable experience.

Jackson's Art Prize 2025

I've never been one for entering competitions, ever since I only received a Highly Commended certificate from my local library art competition back in junior school days of the early 80s. Oh, and the Mayor of Havering chose my Christmas card design to print back in senior school.

Some 35 years later I thought I'd try my chances with the Jackson's Art Prize. Earning notoriety at a prestigious London Art Gallery would be amazing but let's face it, a wedge of cash and vouchers for art supplies really could come in handy.

From 12,964 entries, I made it into the top 25% (3,356 works). I'm still proud to think of that as an honourable submission - a 'close but certainly no cigar' moment.

Circle Foundation for the Arts - May 2025

Delighted to have received a 'Masterful Mind Award' certificate back in May 2025 for my submission into the Circle Arts Online Art Contest.

It didn't make the publication but I always knew my 'Chrome Symphony' painting was a stroke of genius - ok, they used masterful.
