Black Velvet - 1957 Monarch Turnpike Cruiser

North American Classics

Another painting in the ongoing North American Classics collection, "Black Velvet" captures the essence of the 1957 Monarch Turnpike Cruiser.

Monarch was a separate brand made and sold north of the border, in Canada, from 1946 to 1957, and again from 1959 to 1961. After World War II, Ford dealers were given the Monarch to sell to their more upscale customers. In fact, Monarch was the fanciest brand manufactured by Ford of Canada; all Lincolns being imported from the USA.  The Monarch was basically a Mercury, V-8 engine and all, with a different grille and trim. One of the rarest cars ever built by any of the Big Three in North America, it is a true icon of mid-century automotive design.

The striking front/side perspective, bathed in sunlight, the high gloss deep-black and reflective chrome, commands attention - just as this classic car did in its heyday. The high-shine finish in this image enhances every intricate detail, giving the painting an almost photographic realism while amplifying its vintage allure.

This piece is more than just a painting; it's a tribute to an era where craftsmanship met innovation, where cars were not just transportation but rolling works of art. Perfect for collectors, car enthusiasts, or anyone who appreciates the beauty of timeless design.

Bring the spirit of the open road into your space with "Black Velvet".
